When havoc strikes, what next?

Article Abstract:

It can often prove extremely difficult to get a domestic appliance repaired, even in cases where there is only a minor fault. Manufacturers generally claim to offer a prompt repair service, but this is often not the case in practice. Indeed, some seem to encourage customers to replace a faulty appliance, rather than have it repaired. It is important to stand firm if a manufacturer seems reluctant to make a repair, and to involve the local authority's Trading Standards department if necessary.

Nobbling the nobs

Article Abstract:

There are a number of annual events in the UK which everyone who aspires to be a significant figure in society regards as essential to attend. These include Royal Ascot, Wimbledon and the Henley Regatta. Wealthy people tend to excuse their frequent attendance of top social events as an act of charity, but their behaviour actually exposes the snobbery and self-indulgence of the UK class system. Considerable emphasis is still placed on having a great deal of money and an acceptable accent.

It's all in the bag

Article Abstract:

Tea has traditionally been a very basic drink in the UK, but there is now a clear trend towards a more discerning approach to selecting tea varieties. There is particular emphasis on 'brightness' in the cup, a colour which characterises Kenyan and China tea. Experts believe that those seeking a really good cup of tea should drink a particular tea in season, and from a named estate.
