Wiped out if the winner takes all

Article Abstract:

The recent revelations that accounting firm Binder Hamlyn could be forced into bankruptcy because its partners are facing a 105 million pounds sterling High Court judgment highlights the dangers facing a partnership in terms of meeting professional liability obligations. There have already been moves by other companies to try to gain greater protection against liability claims. KPMG, for example, has turned its audit practice into a limited company, while Ernst and Young and Price Waterhouse plans to register in Jersey in order to obtain limited liability partnership status.

Complementary practices

Article Abstract:

There is a growing trend among UK companies towards the use of 'complementary workers.' Many companies now believe that high-quality products and services can be produced by an appropriate mixture of permanent and complementary employees.
