A sure ride

Article Abstract:

The Federal Highway Administration Demonstration Project 89 on Quality Management has developed a software package to provide highway engineers with analytical power to develop effective acceptable construction specifications. The software includes several interactive programs to ensure implementation of quality levels of plans and specifications in the actual constructed projects. The software facilitates various processes, such as analyzing pay adjustment procedures, constructing operating characteristic curves, plotting control charts and conducting statistical comparisons of data sets.

The proof is in the pavement

Article Abstract:

Statistical quality assurance (SQA) is adopted by construction agencies to get quality highway construction. This approach allows the contractors to make their own decisions, and a judgment on the end result based on statistical and mathematical concepts is passed. The SQA provides maximum profit and is easy. The results of a survey showed that SQA programs are used by 25 American states.
