An experimental study of inhomogeneous cyclic plastic deformation
Article Abstract:
The inhomogeneous deformation phenomenon occurring in the gage section of smooth specimens is experimentally investigated, when the same were subjected to cyclic loading at room temperature. The results indicated that the cyclic deformation in a smooth specimen of a polycrystalline material can be very inhomogeneous macroscopically in the gage section, and that the local inhomogeneous cyclic deformation depends on the loading magnitude and evolves with continued cyclic loading.

Article Abstract:
Inhomogeneous plastic deformation of 1045 steel subjected to monotonic tension and cyclic tension-compression, was experimented. There is a similarity between propagation of the Luders band and the inhomogeneous cyclic plastic deformation.

The construction of the design of an appropriate forming machine for spatial free plastic forming of slender parts is discussed. The forming machine is designed and tested at the laboratory scale.
