China's campaign to predict quakes

Article Abstract:

China's State Seismological Bureau has established a network of seismological stations and has had some success in predicting earthquakes. The program is strictly empirical and has a reported accuracy rate of 25% for medium- to short-range forecasts.

Government gives green light to four new facilities

Article Abstract:

The Chinese government has approved funding for four major scientific projects. They are the Large Area, Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope, two synchrotron projects and a national seismographic network.
