Bioavailability of 2,4-dichlorophenol associated with soil water-soluble humic material

Article Abstract:

Soil water-soluble humic material (WSHM) mixed with organic xenobotics can affect their environmental fate and bioavailability. A study was conducted using bacterial assays to figure out the temporal change in the bioavailability of 2,4-dichlorophenol in soil water extracts. Findings suggest that the assessment of risk posed by chemicals has to be acknowledged when using appropriate biological assays.

Reproductive effects of long-term exposure to Bisphenol A in the fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas)

Article Abstract:

This study researches the effects of long-term exposure of Bisphenol A (BPA) to multiple generations of fathead minnows. BPA, which has been found to be mildly estrogenic, is a chemical used to manufacture epoxy resins, polycarbonate plastics and other chemicals. Results showed that BPA administered by water acts as a weak estrogen to fish.
