First-class culprit: an autoimmunity theory meets with resistance

Researchers at Harvard Medical School have been criticized for suggesting a link between diabetes and abnormalities in major histocompatibility complex proteins. The correlation would question past assumptions about the causes of autoimmune diseases.

Pronghorn antelope are able to run 45 miles per hour because of their ability to consume oxygen. Physiological changes in their lungs and blood allow the antelope to effectively utilize oxygen three times faster than other animals their size.

Trojan horse: did a protective peptide exacerbate Bhopal injuries?

Article Abstract:

Glutathione, a peptide that protects cells from the effects of chemicals, may have aggravated the injuries suffered in the 1984 release of a gaseous toxin in Bhopal, India. The peptide acts as a Trojan horse by moving poisons into the body.
