Increasing speed helps modeling, virtual reality

Article Abstract:

Several technological developments in three-dimensional CAD modeling were showcased at the 1998 American Engineering Council Systems show held in Chicago, IL. Digital Equipment Corp debuted its Alpha workstation chips which support speeds up to 600 MHz. Intel has also announced its partnership with Hewlett Packard to develop the Merced chip which will operate at 1,000 MHz. Moreover, a number of manufacturers displayed their virtual reality viewing equipment, including Intergraph and Gary Robertson and Associates Inc.

Keynote speakers address questions for next millennium

Article Abstract:

A group of industry and corporate executives answered questions about computing in the year 2000 at the 1998 American Engineering Council Systems show in Chicago, IL. The show highlighted the importance for chief executive offers to integrate information technology strategies in their business plans. Some of the executives which participated in the question-and-answer advisory are industry consultants Bradley Holtz and Joel N. Orr, and David Weisberg, president of Technology Automation Services.

AEC computing landscape set for shake-up

Article Abstract:

A number of computer-aided design products were introduced at the 1998 American Engineering Council System show which was held in Chicago, IL, from Jun 2 to 5, 1998. Integraph announced that its Imagineer software would be scaled down and bundled with the Microsoft Windows 98 Resource kit. Visio Corp debuted its IntelliCAD software and confirmed joint agreements with a number of firms. Moreover, Autodesk showcased its Actrix CAD product which will compete with Visio's Visio Technical software.
