MRS on Indian lands? Congress shuffles feet

Article Abstract:

Congressional apathy towards solving the nuclear waste disposal problem can be discerned by its non-committal response to the offer of the Mescalero Tribal Council for a Monitored Retrieval Storage (MRS) facility. The government has been looking for such a facility for quite some time, but no states have been willing to store the wastes within their jurisdiction. The Mescalero Apache Tribe located in Mescalero, New Mexico, has offered such a site but congressional indecision is keeping the highly radioactive substance at the reactor premises.
