Motor circuits

Article Abstract:

The automotive electronics industry will confront a few design challenges as electronic control begins to focus on more than just the engine and starts usurping on the area of steering and brakes. However, current interest in engine control units is seen to soon shift to other areas of the vehicle, as well as in the vehicle's interaction with its environment, giving rise to such innovations as satellite antennae and Internet links. The industry, meanwhile, still has to contend with a few impediments, particularly in the fields of electromagnetic compatibility and energy management.

Sub-assemblies

Article Abstract:

Swiss machine tool company Charmilles Technology is one of the world's largest producers of EDM (electro discharge machining) machines. The EDM process is used for several high precision applications, particularly in the toolmaking industry. In response to foreign competition, the company's parent George Fisher Group, decided to merge Charmilles with fellow Swiss EDM machine maker Agie, allowing costs to be reduced in administration and purchasing. Unusually, the merged company continues to support two separate brand identities, a strategy borrowed from the automotive industry.
