Multicomponent remote sensing of vehicle exhaust by dispersive absorption spectroscopy. 1. Effect of fuel type and catalyst performance

Article Abstract:

Researchers from Air Instruments & Measurements Inc. and the Oak Crest Institute of Science used a remote sensor utilizing ultraviolet and infrared spectrometers to measure over 20 pollutants in the exhaust of 19 in-use vehicles fueled by reformulated gasoline diesel, compressed natural gas, and methanol with 15% gasoline. Results reveal that gasoline and methanol engines contain high levels of NH3.

Stable carbon isotope evidence for intrinsic bioremediation of tetrachloroethene and trichloroethene at Area 6, Dover Air Force Base

Article Abstract:

This Remediation Technologies Development Forum Bioremediation of Chlorinated Solvents Action Team (RTDF) study evaluates the natural reductive dechlorination of chlorinated hydrocarbons in groundwater. Stable carbon isotopes were measured at various points at Area 6, Dover Air Force Base, showing that the chlorinated solvents had partially biodegraded. Maps of the site and graphs show the level of recorded stable carbon isotopes in relation to contamination sites.
