The Department of Sanitationauthorities in New York are trying to protect Onondage Lake from contamination caused industrial waste, according to the guide lines given by New York's Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). The steps taken by Metro authorities, along with the developments happening in the cleaning process, are presented.

Fish passage to be restored to much of Maine's Presumpscot

Article Abstract:

The Presumpscot river's numerous dams which have been built starting in the 18th century have prevented anadromous fish from returning upstream to spawn. Sappi Fine Paper North America will remove their Cumberland Mills Dam while four other dams will facilitate fish passage under the terms of an agreement among the river's stakeholders.
