Panel strikes balance for NASA, NSF

Article Abstract:

Science and research spending on space, environment, and the NSF should rise around 1% in the fiscal year beginning on Oct 1, 1996. Absolute budget levels await reconciliation between the House, Senate and the president. A preliminary authorization bill had proposed much deeper cuts in the NSF.

NASA slices biology program on station

NASA has reduced the amount of money it planned to spend on gravitational biology research by 50% in an effort to compensate for unexpected costs that threaten the survival of the international space station program itself.
