Working on the floor

Article Abstract:

Coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) have enabled manufacturers to improve the efficiency of product inspections. Diecasting producer Morris Ashby Castings, for instance, uses a CMM to inspect completed batches of mixed components as soon as they come out of machining centers. On the other hand, computer chassis maker HSP Strathclyde used a CMM to develop a single inspection method for the entire manufacturing process.
