Technology transfer to supplier-dominated sectors: lessons from the diffusion of CAD in the fashion industry

Article Abstract:

Several factors influenced and limited the adoption of computer-aided design (CAD) by the garments and footwear industries in Italy. These include information dissemination, competitive advantage, costs, firms' characteristics, externalities such as availability of skilled CAD operators, hardware and software supply, and the customization of CAD technology to users' needs.

FEA design and computation system for springs

Article Abstract:

A coupled and modular CAD/Finite-Element-Analysis system for the design and computation of springs and springy units is presented. This system has a user-friendly interface that allows the design engineer to describe and analyze the spring as machine elements within recognized parameters.
