The future of human longevity: a demographer's perspective

The number of elderly in developing countries has increased considerably in recent decades. Appropriate public and fiscal planning is essential in determining how responsibly society will care for its older citizens. Mortality prediction is one method used to aid in this planning.

Stratospheric control of climate

Article Abstract:

New simulation models demonstrate how solar activity influences the earth's stratosphere, which in turn affects climate in the troposphere. The new methods will aid understanding of climatic changes and their causes and help improve weather-forecasting techniques.
