The one that got away?

Researchers at the Organization for Heavy-Ion Research laboratory discovered an unknown heavy-ion phenomenon in two separate experiments between 1983 and 1987. Millions of dollars were spent in further research, but some physicists have concluded that the phenomenon never existed.

Plagiarism suit wins; experts hope it won't set a trend

Article Abstract:

Epidemiologist Pamela Berge won a $2 million plagiarism judgement against the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and four researchers. The case is controversial because Berge filed suit before attempting to resolve the dispute using established channels.

Is a warmer climate wilting the forests of the north?

Article Abstract:

Researchers working in the forests of timberline Alaska have discovered that tree growth rate has flattened despite continued global warming. The warming may be causing moisture stress and decreased resistance to insects as the trees dry out.
