Multiple transient response methods to identify mechanisms of heterogeneous catalytic reactions

Article Abstract:

Identification of mechanisms of heterogeneous catalytic reactions is challenging because there are few effective in-situ techniques with which to determine reactive intermediates on surface. An effective multiple transient technique, by its application to high temperature heterogeneous catalytic reactions, is illustrated.

Tyrosinase autoactivation and the chemistry of ortho-quinone amines

Article Abstract:

Tyrosinase oxidizes tyrosine to dopaquinone, which undergoes nonenzymatic reactions leading to precursors of melanin pigments. The study of structurally modified dopaquinones provides firm evidence of nonenzymatic catechol formation during tyrosinase of phenols and reveals significant differences in the modes of reaction.

Substrate-mediated interactions and intermolecular forces between molecules adsorbed on surfaces

Article Abstract:

Scanning tunneling microscopy is used to investigate adsorbate interactions and reactions on metal surfaces. The manners in which adsorbates perturb the surface electronic structure in their vicinity are discussed.
