Water wisdom of the ancients

Article Abstract:

Oman's falaj system and China's Dujiangyan waterworks are thousands of years old but they are still meeting the demand for irrigation and drinking water and flood control. The falaj is a network of water wells connected by subsurface conduits and channels where water is needed. Dujiangyan is a water conservation project made up of a dike, a spillway, and a natural sluice. It supplies water for irrigation and the main canals are used for flood control and log floating operations.
