Adult immunization in university-based primary care and specialty practices

Article Abstract:

The vaccination status of adults in primary and specialty care practices is evaluated in a retrospective review of medical records form 1997 to 2000 at one university medical center. Fifty-nine percent of patients aged 65 and older received pneumococcal vaccine, 51 percent received tetanus and 32 percent received influenza vaccine while patients receiving specialty care were less likely to receive adequate adult vaccinations than the patients receiving primary care.

Function and back symptoms in older adults

Article Abstract:

The relationship between back symptoms and limitations in nine specific functional activities are determined. The results provide evidence of a relationship between back symptoms and functional limitations. Back symptoms account for a large percentage of functional limitations in older adults.

Vision and driving self-restriction in older adults

Article Abstract:

Driving self-restriction such as vision related and non-vision related, in relation to vision test performance of older adults are assessed. Findings indicate that demographic, health and functional characteristics matched between vision and nonvision related restrictors.
