Barriers to and benefits of leisure time physical activity in the elderly: differences across cultures

Article Abstract:

Ethnic differences in attitudes toward barriers and benefits of leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) in sedentary elderly Mexican and European Americans are compared. It is suggested that while attempting to engage elderly in LTPA, it is important that not only to consider what barriers exist but also what beliefs about the benefits exist among them.

Is large-scale community memory screening feasible? Experience from a regional memory-screening day

Article Abstract:

Results indicate that large-scale memory screening to obtain early diagnoses of dementia in elderly populations require stronger components of follow-up care to be effective. Studies were based on 497 subjects who participated in a regional screening-day in New England in 1999.
