This article presents standards for geriatric medical education that are determined by the American Geriatrics Society. Topics include the incorporation of geriatric medicine into the mainstream medical school curriculum, the benefits of a required clinical experience in a geriatric setting, and the need for continuing geriatrics education for practicing physicians.
