Possible medication errors in home healthcare patients

Article Abstract:

A study of home health care patients showed that as many as one-third of the study subjects may have been given the wrong medication or given a drug that is not recommended for the elderly. The chance of medication error increased when the patients were taking nine or more drugs.

The role of benzodiazepines in the treatment of insomnia

Article Abstract:

Analysis of a study of elderly adults with insomnia treated with benzodiazepines is presented. The study showed increased sleep time, but also increased side effects. A comparison was made with using triazolam treatment and similar results were obtained.

Tolterodine: a safe and effective treatment for older patients with overactive bladder

Article Abstract:

In clinical studies in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France tolterodine, an antimuscarinic agent has proved effective and safe for elderly patients with overactive bladder symptoms.
