Religion, aging, and health: current status and future prospects
Article Abstract:
A growing interest toward religion, health and aging has become evident in recent years, with numerous studies on the better physical and mental health of elderly people who are involved in religion. Proof of the increasing attention directed toward this subject are the growing number of scholarly applications and grant applications on this topic, the emergence of journals devoted exclusively to religion and aging, and the creation of committees aimed to encourage better understanding of religion and health. The challenges facing researchers in this area are discussed.

Hospital utilization profiles among older adults over time: consistency and volume among survivors and decedents
Article Abstract:
Longitudinal study on aging helps analyze the extent of hospital utilization among 7,527 adults, including survivors and deceased persons, and suggests prior usage of physicians and hospitals and bad quality of self-rated health to be the dominant risk factors for hospital usage among the survivors. Prior utilization also induces hospital use among the decedents. The percentage of consistent hospital users is only marginally higher than that of nonusers.

Negative interaction and satisfaction with social support among older adults
Article Abstract:
A nationwide survey of older adults receiving social support reveals that a negative relationship between these adults and the caregivers plays a more significant role in the satisfaction of the elderly than the extent of social support received. Ensuring a positive relationship devoid of any unpleasant encounters satisfies the older people, who do not consider the only amount of caregiving received in feeling satisfied.
