Seroprevalence of viral hepatitis in an older nursing home population

Article Abstract:

Viral hepatitis seroprevalence in an older nursing home population is discussed based on a prospective cohort study of 199 subjects. The seroprevalence of antibody to hepatitis C (anti-HCV ) was surprisingly high and a recommendation that all new patients for such institutions be screened for it has been made. Prevalence of hepatitis G virus RNA (HGV RNA) was higher than in the general blood donor population of the US.
