Two recruitment strategies for a clinical trial of physically frail community-living older persons

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the cost and efficiency of two strategies for recruiting frail, community-living elderly to participate in a clinical trial. The recruitment strategies involved either finding potential participants during their office visits with their primary care physician, or identifying the potential participants by using the patient rosters of primary care physicians.

The relationship between psychological factors and disabling musculoskeletal pain in community-dwelling older persons

Article Abstract:

Studies show that low functional self-efficacy and depressive symptoms are linked to incidence of musculoskeletal pain in elderly populations. Data were obtained from 226 subjects 70 years of age and older who were independently capable of performing activities of daily living, such as bathing and dressing.

Underutilization of environmental adaptations for bathing in community-living older persons

Article Abstract:

Study made on five hundred New Haven people aged above 73 years old reveals that more than 50% of old people have bathing problems are not using sophisticated facilities. Necessity for re modification of facilities in homes and care taking methods are suggested to over come the problems.
