A typology of networks: flexible and evolutionary firms

Article Abstract:

Constant changes in the contemporary industrial economy is paving the way for the progression of the network-firm model of firm organization which is associated to the structure of networks. This 'evolutionary network-firm,' governs production networks while assimilating the characteristics of imaginative learning. Moreover, there are particular attributes that are distinctly significant such as the capacity of emerging firms to channel existing capabilities within their external and internal networks. In addition, these firms can influence network costs.

Growth and inventiveness in technology-based spin-off firms

Article Abstract:

Technology-based spin-off firms result when employees leave their respective organizations to establish companies of their own. Two-thirds of 60 small Swedish technology-based companies studied had emerged from private entities while one-sixth came from universities. Spin-off companies began to experience faster growth than their non-spin-off counterparts more than ten years after their initial establishment.
