Characteristics of substance-abusing women on welfare: findings from the evaluation of CASAWORKS for Families pilot demonstration

Article Abstract:

The characteristics and needs of substance-abusing women on Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) who enroll in a multi-service welfare to work program are compared with two other work groups. Results show that compared with women on TANF from standard addiction-treatment program, CWF women exhibited more severe co-occuring problems.

Potential berriers to work for substance-abusing women on welfare: findings from the CASAWORKS for families pilot demonstration

Article Abstract:

The prevalence and relationship of potential barriers to work for substance-abusing women on Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) enrolled in a multiservice welfare-to-work program is analyzed. The effectiveness of interventions such as CWF in reducing barriers to work and the degree to which they improve are assessed.

Casaworks for families: a new treatment model for substance-abusing parenting women on welfare

A brief overview of CASAWORKS for Families (CWF), an innovative intervention designed to help substance-abusing parenting women on welfare, is presented. New welfare policy priorities about the importance of addressing behavioral health problems among welfare recipients are reviewed.
