Globalization with a European face

Article Abstract:

The European cultural memory might enable Europeans to mediate emerging powers beyond the world of traditional empires and their global economies, beyond nation-states and their international economies or liberal empires and their global economy, since they know something about the reflexivity of power. However, in order to do so, Europeans have to break with their idiosyncratic identification of globalization and modernization, reflect on their position in the rise of the modern world system and reshape their illusions after recovering from their own two world wars.
