March of the Mississippi kite

Article Abstract:

A pair of Mississippi kites has set up a home in a commercial/residential area of a northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. For three summers the area has had a nesting pair of these raptors on the front line of a range expansion. This southern Great Plains species is most common in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. The kites increasingly appear in domestic habitats, seeming to need only groves of trees and surrounding open areas in which they can hunt. They do not appear to be threatened, but need to be watched.

Indivisibility and preference for collective provision

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to evaluate the provision preference for indivisible goods. The study assumes that shared goods are perfectly divisible and that goods can be distinguished under collective and individual provision through per-unit cost after congestion. Results show that the collective provision is preferred when unit-cost is high. However, lower per-unit cost does not necessarily make the collective provision undesirable.
