New facets of commitment in response to organizational change: research trends and the Dutch experience

Article Abstract:

A change model of pychological contract presents a framework for determining factors that affect organizational commitment. The approach considers perceived behavior by employees and terms governing the psychological contract. The study shows that employees' perception of unfavorableness or favorableness of contract terms affect outcome of organizational commitment. Employees tend to reject responsibilites and carry out tasks against standards if psychological contracts do not meet expectations.

Article Abstract:

Utilization of two-dimensional organizational commitment questionnaire revealed differential antecedents of organizational commitment that are in conformity with March and Simon framework. Organizational tenure, retirement benefits, education and age were found to be strongly related with continuance commitment. On the other hand, a strong relationship was established between value commitment and felt participation, perceived prestige, job involvement and role ambiguity.
