The coporate elite goes to Washington: presidential campaign contributions of corporate officers

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the political involvement of corporate officers in the 1972 and 1984 presidential elections. The study was based on campaign contribution data. Results show that total corporate elite contributions decreased from 1972 to 1984. In addition, even the proportion of contributing executives decreased for the studied period. However, regulations did not exhibit significant effects on political participation.

Corporate PACs and conservative realignment: comparison of 1980 and 1984

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to compare political action committees (PACs) of 1980 and 1984. It is shown that across 40% of large corporate PACs of 1980 exhibited politically similar behavior. These PACs were primarily characterized by strong support for ideologically conservative candidates. However, a larger number of 1984 PACs exhibited more conservative but similar political behavior towards candidate endorsement.
