USO: More than entertainment

Article Abstract:

The United Service Organizations (USO) supports the troops and their families through entertainment and also through various social programs, which are aimed to provide morale, welfare and recreation type services. Some of the other major programs are Operation Mail Call, United through reading and gifts from the homefront and Operation Phone Home provides prepaid phone cards to service members especially to those in Iraq and Afghanistan and also wounded troops in military hospitals.

Riverian warfare on the Rach Nui

Article Abstract:

The first major operation of Mobile Riverine Force (MRF) including the Army and Navy was launched in June 19, 1967 to capture a large enemy redoubt that provided local forces with rest and training camp near Can Giuoc in America. Instead of hacking through the vegetation along the banks of the Rach Nui River, the Army chose to wade across the rice paddies which resulted in 48 American lives.

Quality no longer 'job one' for VA claims processing

Article Abstract:

Knight Ridder published the results of its investigation into VA claims processing in March 2005. Based on an internal VA report that used staffing and overtime levels to estimate production capacity, Knight Ridder found that VA employee productivity nationwide is about 75 expected.
