With the wind at their backs: The cruise of the SMS Seeadler, 1916-1917

Article Abstract:

SMS 'Seeadler' with Count Felix von Luckner as its captain, was awarded with an extremely dangerous mission of attacking Allied shipping, with an emphasis on sailing merchants, capture the enemy ships, take the crews prisoner, then sink the ships and their cargo. The cruise of the Seeadler destroyed more than $25 million in ships and cargo and offered the story of a courageous captain and crew who defied all odds and provided a tale of inspiration and daring.

Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka: a landmark case unresolved fifty years later

Article Abstract:

The United States Supreme Court thrusted the issue of school desegregation into national spotlight in the landmark Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka case, which has brought the racial issues into the forefront of the national consciousness. After 1954 segregation continued at the elementary level and crept into the middle, junior and senior high grades and perpetuated in racial as well as in the class lines.
