The author suggests that history of hostility between the Catholic and Orthodox faiths in Belarus has lead to a decrease in Belarus' Catholic population during the 20th century, with important political and cultural implications. Topics include how the Eastern-oriented Orthodox majority will shape the future of politics in Belarus.

Herbert Spencer and discrimination: a comment on Offer

Article Abstract:

Herbert Spencer's probable attitude toward laws against employment discrimination is discussed, in response to an article by John Offer. Discrimination would not involve a breach in the law of equal freedom, in Spencer's terms, but would be covered by laws on enforcement of contracts.
