Neuropathology and criminal violance: newly calibrated ratios

Article Abstract:

Data from empirical studies of the presence or absence of brain dysfunction in violent criminals are applied to Centers for Disease Control statistics on incidence in the general population. Relative ratios for neuropathology are derived.

Crime and punishment: infrequently imposed sanctions may reinforce criminal behavior

Article Abstract:

A comparison between threatened punishment and levied punishment is explored in relation to their effectiveness in crime deterrence. Findings support the theory that infrequently levied punishment encourages crime by offering a low-risk source of excitement to criminals.

Blacks and whites as victims and offenders in aggressive crime in the U.S.: myths and realities

Article Abstract:

Data on aggressive crime vs. race are both expected and challenging. Whites commit 75% of the violent crimes, mostly against whites. Blacks perpetrate these crimes at twice their proportion of population, but white victimization by other whites is five times more likely than being victimized by a black.
