Boys will be boys and girls better be prepared: an analysis of the rare sexual health messages of the rare sexual health messages in young adolescents' media

Article Abstract:

A quantitative analysis of the sexual content in four popular adolescent media reveals that less than one half of 1% of the content offered information about or depicted sexually healthy behavior. Most of the health information was either vague or inaccurate, suggesting the need for considerable changes in the media's presentation of sexuality.

Mainstream media skepticism and exposure to sectorial and extranational news media: The case of Israel

Article Abstract:

Survey data collected in Israel is analyzed to examine the association between mainstream media skepticism and exposure to sectorial and extranational news media. Skepticism toward the mainstream news media is related to sectorial and extranational news consumption, but is not related to consumption of such nonmainstream media exclusively.

Ethnic media in the United States: an essay on their role in integration, assimilation, and social control

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the role of ethnic mass media in assimilation and integration are discussed. Suggestions are offered for further research on the part played by ethnic media in the discussion of multiculturalism in the country.
