Comprehensive neighborhood revitalization

Article Abstract:

Many local community development officials have been working on revitalizing neighborhoods with public housing. Five outstanding projects are the Longview neighborhood in Phoenix, Arizona; Shocks Run in Colorado Springs, Colorado; the Lincoln High Street Neighborhood in Denton, Maryland; Model Blocks neighborhoods in Fort Worth, Texas and a large part of Healdsburg, California.

Managing change: a view from the nonprofit sector

Article Abstract:

Local housing authorities are facing a time of change and must learn to adapt if they are to provide needed services to their community. Housing officials must work to provide permanent housing for low income families and to build community support. Reduced federal money means housing authorities must focus on fundraising.

Asset management: changing traditional LHA approaches

Article Abstract:

An overview is presented on outsourcing administrative functions of local housing authorities (LHAs). This strategy is to facilitate the transition of LHAs from administrative processes to asset management and planning.
