Conceptual muddle, practical dilemma: human rights, social development and social work education

Article Abstract:

The number of human rights violation cases have continued to increase despite efforts by the international community to mitigate fragmentation and ethnic rivalry. Such cases are most prevalent in the Asia-Pacific region where cultural diversity and political instability lead to social conflicts. One of the means of promoting human rights is by adopting a conceptual approach to social service. By underscoring the need to redistribute goods and services to those in need, social workers may be able to contribute to the formation of a just and free society.
