Guest editor's introduction

Article Abstract:

An overview is presented on caring for the elderly in China, focusing on the differences and disparities between urban and rural areas. Elder care in urban regions is less problematic than in rural ones, as the urban aged typically have retirement pensions and/or access to social services. The rural aged, however, are usually members of agrarian communities in which economic and social resources are limited.
