Stuart Levy, , a researcher on drug resistance at Tufts Medical Center, says most disinfectants work no better than ordinary soap and water. And he says some disinfectants alter a home's microbiology by destroying weak bacteria and leaving stong, possibly dangerous ones to thrive.
