Is social work a profession? The Canadian response

Article Abstract:

The article examines the unique social welfare system in Canada, evaluating it along Abraham Flexner's criteria of professionalism in the United States. The author argues that Canada's social workers and schools of social work deviate from Flexner's guidelines, such as Flexner's assertion that United States' universities do not hire social workers as faculty, whereas Canadian universities make a point of hiring social workers.
