Religious basis for Islamic terrorism: The Quran and its interpretations

Article Abstract:

Islamic Revivalism and extreme religious interpretations of the Quran has influenced the emergence and progression of violence linked Jihad in contemporary times and the manner in which religion can cause the emergence of Islamic violence as it is known at present is described. Islamic terrorists are able to legitimize their movement as an act of violent Jihad permitted by the Quran because of religious sanctions that permit the use of violence as an act of defense and to preserve the will of God.

Trade, development and non-proliferation: multilevel counterterrorism in central Asia

Article Abstract:

Multilevel counter terrorism has to be developed after considering the challenges posed by sub-state radicalism to development and regionalization. The circumstances in present day Central Asia show that the anti-terrorism campaign should address socioeconomic feeders of radicalism as well as effectively deal with the threat of political violence.

The scope provided by the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan for criminal organizations, terrorists, and insurgents to forge and strengthen relationships, particularly in the period between post-conflict and reconstruction/nation building, is explored.
