Social work as a profession: As perceived by Slovenian and Croatian social work students

Article Abstract:

Studies were conducted to assess how social work as a profession was perceived by Slovenian and Croatian social work students, which found that the Slovenian students were more critical towards social work as a profession that services `government' functions but were also more demanding towards the profession with regard to its content. The Croatian students, probably in keeping with the social and political reality of their country, had smaller demands, and they agreed with the administrative function of the profession and believed in the general system values.

Social work students and work values

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the work values of entry-level social work students are discussed. In a group of 169 freshman social work students, the values of self-actualization were ranked the highest, closely followed by socially-oriented values. The survey's results show that the students have chosen social work out of commitment to the fundamental values they believe in.

Article Abstract:

The work values represent personal relations between Croatia and Slovenia students studying values of social work and career. The different social and economic circumstances investigating the work values through a specific acquired system of educating students are discussed.
