Terrorism, the media, and the Northern Ireland conflict

Article Abstract:

The media have an important role in controlling terrorism, which is an essential prelude to the return of peace in Northern Ireland. This also requires substantial religious, political and social changes. The media must avoid being manipulated by terrorist outfits. There is a need for careful reporting on terrorism. The media should realize that the government and other agencies are fighting against terrorism. They should help them in this fight without sacrificing the true facts.
