The development of friendship in childhood: a clinical conversation

Article Abstract:

Experiences of friendship in childhood helps psychotherapeutic treatment as it throws light on their intrapsychic life and the capacity to relate. Playing together with toys develops intimate interaction and the ability to think together. Exchange of toys enhances the ability to take initiative and tolerate separation, besides acting as a building block to latency development. Children develop a sense of responsibility when they take care of borrowed toys. Case studies highlight the therapeutic use of friendship.
