School daze: an underwater photography course

The Nikon School of Underwater Photography in Key Largo, FL, is conducting week-long courses on underwater photography. The class initially involves assessment of the students' skill levels by conducting two examinations regarding cameras. This assists teachers in ensuring that each student has a fully functional system. Assessment of film used during the initial session is undertaken during the second day of meeting to teach students regarding exposure parameters.

Manatee photography is very popular in Florida because of its several manatee sanctuaries. In Three Sisters Spring in Crystal River, FL, manatee photography is very ideal because of its clean water, fewer people and numerous manatees. In taking pictures of manatees, photographers can rub gently the armpits of the animal since they have a weakness for such kind of interaction. Oftentimes, scratching of armpits causes the manatee to stop or roll around.

Jamaica offers a variety of diving destinations for both intermediate and expert scuba divers. In Negril, for instance, divers can enjoy mild dives to the Throne Room which is a cavern with a large elephant sponge and wild dives reaching depths of 90 to 100 feet at the Deep Plane/Bloody Bay Reef. Other destinations include the Chatham Reef and Basket Reef in Montego Bay and the Pockets Reef in Runaway Bay.
