Structural validity of a self-report concussion-related symptom scale

Article Abstract:

The factorial validity of a self-report measure of concussion-related symptom severity among a large sample of male, high-school athletes is studied using the graded symptom checklist. The analysis provides a factorial validity and the factor structure represents a cohesive group of nine symptoms that can be explained by the three underlying latent variables somatic, neurobehavioral and cognitive symptoms, subsumed under the single high-order factor concussion symptoms.

Three-dimensional kinetic analysis of running: significance of secondary planes of motion

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to determine the three-dimensional pattern and characteristics of peak movement, power curves, and intervariability in the kinetic analysis of motion planes of running. Results show less variability in the sagittal plane with reference to rearfoot and more variability in the transverse plane with reference to the knee joints.

Validity of the modified back-saver sit-and-reach test: comparison with other protocols

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates the criterion-related validity and reliability of a popular fitness test used to measure flexibility in the lower back and hamstrings. Results indicate that the modified back-saver sit-and-reach is both a reliable and valid measure of flexibility that requires minimal preparation, equipment, or patient discomfort.
