Skiing a couloir in Chamonix, France, is discussed, with emphasis on its particular difficulties. Skiing in couloirs is especially hard, as the terrain is steep and narrow and enclosed on all sides.

Skiers who want to improve their jumping technique should first practice jumping up and down in flat terrain, then progress to a small hills. Tips on how to jump include avoid pushing off from the heels, keep legs supple and bent, do not flap arms and legs, and focus eyes ahead while landing.
