Water works: a sinking boat can ruin your whole day

Boats should never sail without equipment to keep it from sinking or getting water out. Europeans take manual pumps with them whenever they take their boats for continental coastal. Boaters should also remember to conduct inspections of their equipment when sailing in water deeper than 5'.

Plumbing is major boating concern which requires adept knowledge of parts and components such as hoses and pipe fittings. Hoses should not be made out of real stainless steel since it rusts and deteriorates on the inside, making it difficult to extract hoses from fittings.

Metal of honor: why bronze is best

Bronze is an ideal material for through-hull fittings in boats. Bronze seacock handles are sturdier than synthetic seacocks, which easily snap. They also have a screw fitting which, upon release, makes operation easy.
